The year saw the resumption of scheduled passenger services to Hong Kong by Royal Air Cambodge in March and of scheduled all-cargo services by Atlas Air in August. The scheduled all-cargo services by Pacific East Asia Cargo Airlines and the scheduled passenger services by Lauda Air to Hong Kong were suspended in March and November respectively, and the round-the-world services of United Airlines. stopped serving Hong Kong in April. Scandinavian Airlines System suspended its scheduled passenger services to Hong Kong in March but introduced scheduled all-cargo services to Hong Kong in the same month. As a result of these changes, the number of scheduled airlines serving Hong Kong remained at 62. At the end of 1999, these airlines together operated about 1 500 direct round-trip scheduled services weekly between Hong Kong and over 100 other cities. In addition, an average of about 200 non-scheduled services operated to and from Hong Kong each week.
