The Hong Kong Police Force Marine Region and the Guangdong Border Defence Bureau made history with two exchange visits during the year. The first was in June when 180 Mainland officers arrived by sea at the Marine Regional
Headquarters, Sai Wan Ho. The second visit took place in September when a delegation of 140 Hong Kong police officers sailed up the Pearl River on board three police patrol vessels to visit the First Brigade Headquarters in Huangpu.
