The quickest way to reach many towns on the east coast of the New Territories is by rail and each year nearly six million people travel on local trains run by the British section of the Kowloon-Canton Railway. During the year three 1,800-horsepower diesel locomotives, such as the one being Funloaded below, were bought to replace the last steam engines in service.
