activities are aimed at children and young people, because we think this is where our promotion can have most effect. Our hope is that we can encourage courtesy and safe behaviour amongst children riding on buses, as well as to make them aware of potential dangers when they are using the
roads.
To promote good performance and road safety awareness amongst our own staff, in 1990 we organised our “Bus Captain of the Year" competition for the
second time. The 30 finalists chosen to
participate were the KMB captains who
scored highest in the selection period and maintained an outstanding performance
throughout the year. This competition is
tough. The four practical tests were carefully
designed to test the manoeuvring skills of the
bus captains on a 3-axle bus, a 2-axle bus and a 24 seater coach. On top of that, they
had to take a written test on the road user's
code, safe bus operation and passenger
safety. The winner, Mr Lee Yiu Wing,
received a cash prize of $10,000 and a
gold plaque, and there were other prizes for
the runners-up and remaining finalists. KMB also carried on the theme of
recognising professional excellence in the
Company's staff by organising the " District Selection of Outstanding Bus Captain" competitions with the cooperation of the District Boards. Apart from boosting staff morale by building pride in our captains' professional skills, this project resulted in improved relationships with the District Boards, who interviewed the bus captains and gained added insights into our drivers' point of view.
為促進本公司員工之良好表現及對道路
安全之警覺,本公司於一九九零年籌辦了
第二屆「傑出車長選舉」比賽。獲選參加
總決賽之三十名車長是在評選期間得分
最高,並於全年保持優秀表現。此項比賽
要求頗為嚴格,四項駕駛測驗均經過精心
設計,以測試車長操縱三軸巴士、雙軸
巴士及二十四座位小型巴士之技術。
此外,車長還須參加一項有關道路使用者
守則、巴士之安全操作及乘客安全之
筆試。優勝者李耀榮先生獲頒現金獎
一萬元及金牌一面,亞軍及其餘入圍者
均獲頒其他獎品。
九巴亦藉着與區議會合作籌辦「地區
模範車長」選舉,表示其對員工突出之
專業成就之重視。除了透過建立車長之
專業技術成就以提高員工士氣外,此項
活動亦使接見參選車長之區議會議員更加
深入了解本公司車長之觀點,從而改善與
區議會之關係。
