UPGRADING SERVICES
There is an increasing demand from the public for a higher standard of
travelling comfort. KMB has embarked on a programme of upgrading services
by providing buses with air-conditioning
and more comfortable seating. By the end of 1989, KMB was running 83 air- conditioned buses and many more will soon go into service. An additional 40 single-deck and 60 double-deck air-
conditioned buses have been ordered for delivery in 1990.
BENEFITS OF PURCHASING DEPOT LAND
There is a general fallacy maintained by
certain sectors of the public that bus
fare increases can be contained and
the bus fare even reduced by the
Company's depots being leased rather
than purchased. Our experience,

公眾對更佳乘車舒適服務之要求日益
提高。九巴已展開一項改善服務水準之
計劃,為巴士安裝冷氣設備及設置更多
舒適座位,至一九八九年底,已有八十三
輛冷氣巴士行走,不久將來會有更多冷氣
巴士投入服務。本公司已訂購另外四十輛
單層和六十輛雙層冷氣巴士,將於
一九九零年運抵。
購置車廠用地之優點
部份公衆人士常誤以為,倘若本公司之
車廠乃租用而非購置,則巴士車費可保持
不變甚至降低。然而,以本公司經驗所
顯示,長遠而言,倘若本公司購置而非
租用車廠用地,是對車費水平影響較少。
