New Buses And Experiment With Air- conditioning Buses
The fleet modernisation programme continued throughout the year, with 178 new buses being added to the fleet whilst_231 of our older vehicles. were withdrawn from service. At the
end of the year KMB had a bus fleet
comprising 2,752 licensed buses and 278 buses which were on order or under construction/repair.
The number of air-conditioned
midibuses within the fleet has also
increased. During 1988, 28 Toyota Coasters were purchased bringing the total number to 37. We took delivery of 2 air-conditioned MCW Metroriders each having a seating capacity of 33
seats, and purchased the first
prototype air-conditioned Olympian
double deck bus for evaluation. Tests
with the Metroriders and the Olympian.
