Transit Services Area, which as predicted in last year's Report caused KMB to lose approximately 134,000 passengers per day (4.4% of total KMB ridership).

The above decrease also offset the growth created by the introduction in

1988 of twenty-two new routes (four

of which employed small air-

conditioned coaches). The decrease of

distance travelled is also due to the introduction of large 3-axle double

deck buses to replace the smaller

double deck buses, since fewer buses

are required to carry the same number of passengers.
