and fairly austere type for occupation by factory workers, and to include as much open space as practicable, not only to reduce densities, but also to act as a 'lung' in what, in a few years time, will be a heavily-populated semi-industrial district. It is intended to develop this estate as a 'neighbourhood unit,' along the lines of So Uk, incorporating public buildings such as schools, clinics, Post Office, bus terminus, etc., but the division of responsibility for the town-planning of the area has not yet been resolved. More detailed development planning will have to await the appointment of an architect.
