SELECT COMMITTEES
The Select Committees in existence at the close of the year together with their respective functions were as follows:-

1. General Administration Select Committee. To
ordinate the recommendations of other Select Com- mittees and to draft a basic plan of campaign for the Authority. To make recommendations regarding the general administrative organization and to co-ordinate the staff requirements of the Housing Division.

Sites Select Committee. To recommend what building sites should be allocated to the Authority and in what order those allocated should be developed, and to consider the establishment of estates outside the urban area. To make recommendations regarding long-term land development plans for both housing and slum clearance schemes. To recommend to the Authority whether additional legislation is required for the furtherance of such schemes.
To
Architectural and Planning Select Committee. advise on the maximum use of sites, and the lay-out, design, style, etc. of buildings to be erected for the Authority and to ensure that the plans of such buildings as submitted conform to the requirements of the Authority in both design and cost. To make recom- mendations regarding the staff and organization of the Architectural Section. To recommend what building research should be undertaken.
4. Tenancy Select Committee. To make recommendations regarding the qualifications which should be possessed by applicants for accommodation and to draw up a selection scheme. To make recommendations regarding
