is a shop keeper in the Lower bazaar-on the 25th October Inst, three men came to his shop | to purchase crape; recognises the prisoner as one of them he gave two of them one piece of crape to look at first, the prisoner came and said the first was not good enough and wanted a better picce the two men standing outside ran away with the other and the prisones was follow- ing them would know the piece, which he identifies it is worth 12 & 13 dollars-the police came and caught prisoner in the shop before he could get away-told prisoner that if any one would secure him, and he would get the other piece back he would let him away-prizoner said he knew no one and he had no money.
Keung Yueu Quan knows the previous witness who is his partner-corroborates his testimony and recognises the prisoner at the bar-prisoner took the first piece and handed it over to the other two men and came to ask another piece. After giving it, witness found the other two men had left the shop-the prisoner was going
after them when witness caught him just outside the door-recognizes the piece of crape-prisoner struggled to get away.
The Jury returned a verdict of guilty and sentence of imprisonment for three months with hard labour was passed on him,
