In consequence of the above letter from Mr. Shelley, and to remove any impression that may be caused thereby, that the Committee appoint ed on the 28th Ullimo, with reference to the Registration Ordinance allowed any unneces• enry delay to take place in the correspondence with the Government, the Members forming the Jate Committee have requested us to state for the information of the Memorialist" and others interested the following facts.
The Deputation was received and the first Memorial delivered about 4 P. M. the 30th Ulto
The second Memorial was despatched at half past one P. M. the 31st Ulto
*** Mr. Shelley's letter dated the 30th Ulto.,
returning the first Memorial was received by the Committee at 3 F. a, the 31st Ulto.
· The Committee's reply to Mr. Shelley's lettor of the 30th - Ulto, was on the point of being despatched at seven P. M. the, 31st Uito when Mr. Shelley's letter dated 21st Ulto,, in reply to the second Momorial was received. ⠀⠀
The Committee accordingly reassembled and wrote an acknowledgement of Mr. Shelley's letter dated 31st Ulto. It was then too late to send in the replies that evening, and they were sent to Mr. Shelley's residence by 6. M. the following morning, the Ist instant.
Mr. Shelley's letter dated 2nd November in reply to the Committee's letter of the 31st Ulta. was received at 8 r. M. the 2nd instant, after the Public Meeting had taken
place,
Ono of the Committee resides at the Extreme es of Victoria, and one nearly at the Extreme West, a distance of near three miles a part.
