Indemnify Her Majesty's Consuls and all other in China, who may have assisted therem, Passed the Legislative Council 10th April, 1844.

The enactments are as follows.

1st, Treaties with China to have the mame effect as an Ordinate

end. Superintendent of Trade and Consuls to levy fines on and detain persons and alups offending against the pro- visions of the Treaties

Sed. Persons and ships offending to be detained until security given for good behaviour, and Consul to report detention of person or ship, or to send them to Hongkong. 4th. Puñalty for offending against provisions of Treaties to which wo penalty is therein atisod, and which are con trary to the laws of England, a time not exceeding two Imudred Dollars,

5th. Double papalties to be imposed by Superintendent of Trade on flagrant offenders, and impresonment in the evout of the flue not being pail,

6th. Regulations made by Superintendent of Trade to remain in force Consuls to juffier penalties provided therein.

7th. Fines to be paid to Her Majesty.
