GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Whereas many deaths have occurred from small Pox in this Colony, and there is reason to believe that the illegal practice of Innoculation is extensively followed by the Chinese Community, Notice is hereby given that such practice is a misdemeanor, and as such punishable by law.

The Colonial Surgeon is instructed to vaccinate persons applying to him at the Civil Hospital. By Order,

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

In pursuance of Ordinance No. 2 of 1845 and No.3 of 1851, it has been determined by the

Honorable the Lieutenant-Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council of Hongkong, that a

rate of Five per cent be paid, for the year commencing from the 1st January, 1855, on the Valuation of Property liable to Police assessment. The amount of the First Quarter will be payable from that date.
