GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
HE Contract hitherto in force for the publication of GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATIONS having ceased on the 21st instant. Notice is hereby given, that the HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, this day established, will be hereafter the only Official Organ of Proclamations, Notifications, and all Public Papers of this Government.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION. Shipping
The Master of the Sardinian Schooner Sofia reports discovery, on the 27th ultimo, of a reef in latitude 8° 6' N. longitude 154° 18' E. of Greenwich-stretching about 7 Miles from E. to W. and nearly 2 miles from N. to S.-sea breaking all along the N. side,-at intervals only, on the S.---On the E. part of reef out of water-at Half a mile's distance from this E. part, no bottom at 45 fathoms. The reef is not laid down in Hobbs' Chart of 1850, with additions to 1852-but Mr. Tortello, master of the Sofia, has every reason to trust in the correctness of his Chronometers and the exact- ness of the longitude.
A wreck was visible on the reef.
