GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
HE Contract hitherto in force for the publication of GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATIONS having ceased on the 21st instant. -Notice is hereby given, that the HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, this day established, will be hereafter the only Official Organ of Proclamations, Notifications, and all Public Papers of this Government.

Diplomatic Department.
His Excellency Her Majesty's Plenipotentiary and Chief Superintendent of British Trade, &c., &c., directs it to be notified that the Commands of Her Most Gracious Majesty The Queen, conveyed through the Right Honorable the Principal Secretary of State for Foreign affairs, have been received, approving of and confirming Ordinance No. 2 of 1854 entitled "An ordinance to invest Her Majesty's Consuls in the Ports in China with jurisdiction over the Persons and Property of Lunatics and Per- sons of unsound mind, as also with the Power inherent in the office of Coroner."

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
Notice is hereby given that persons wishing to purchase Lots of ground in the district extending from Mr. Murrow's Coal Godowns to the Naval Stores, or in other localities, are in the first instance to apply to the Surveyor General, and if it should appear that the applicants are of sufficient number to warrant the arrangement of the land in building lots, a report thereon will be made to the Hon' the Lieutant-Governor and should he approve thereof, another notification fixing the date of sale will be issued.
