GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
The Honorable the Lieutenant-Governor desires to record the thanks of the Government to this Community for the prompt manner in which it has responded to his suggestion to form a Volunteer Corps for the protection of life and property; and he doubts not that so ready and energetic a manifestation of public spirit will have its due effect in supplying the partial want of confidence that recent events have inevitably caused.
