VOL. I. No. 30.

The Contract for publishing this Gazette, entered into on the 24th September, 1853, was terminated on the 30th ultimo; and notice is hereby given, that a NEW SERIES of this Gazette will be published hereafter, to commence from the 7th instant, under a New Contract, and that

"THE HONGKONG Government GAZETTE”

will, as before, be the only Official Organ for PROCLAMATIONS, NOTIFICATIONS, and PUBLIC PAPERS, of this Government.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Purchasers at the Land Sales Held during the year 1855 are reminded of their obligation, at " their own proper "costs and charges, in a good, substantial, and workmanlike manner, to erect, build, and completely finish, fit for use, one or more good, substantial, and safe brick or stone messuage or tenement" on each lot purchased by them; and their attention is also called to the necessity of complying with the special Conditions, regarding Roads or otherwise, under which each particular lot was sold.

The Surveyor General is directed to report, at the end of One Year after each Sale, whether these Conditions Lave been complied with, and Purchasers are warned that the Penalties provided for non-compliance will be strictly

enforced.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

For general information are published the following Returns, showing the Vessels registered in this Colony otherwise than under the Imperial Acts.

Owners of Vessels described in Return A. are desired to communicate to this Office particulars of their present condition; and Owners and Securities of those shown in Return B. are reminded of Sections V., IX., X., and XI. of Ordinance No. 4 of 1855, and especially of that provision by which they are required once in every Six Months to produce the Registers of their Vessels to the Harbour Master.
