The Contract for publishing this Gazette, entered into on the 24th September, 1853, was terminated on the 30th ultimo; and notice is hereby e, that a NEW SERIES of this Gazette will be published hercafter, to commence from the 7th instant, under a New Contract, and that

“THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE"

, as before, be the only Official Organ for PROCLAMATIONS, NOTIFICATIONS, and Public Papers, of this Government.

HN BOWRING. Whereas under Proclamation dated 28th February, 33, certain Powers were unduly delegated to the Emi- in Officer at this Port, it is hereby declared that the clamation aforesaid shall be, and the same is, annulled this date; and that with respect to Passengers, being hese or persons accustomed to Chinese diet, the supply Provisions and Medicines for Passenger Ships shall in ere be as follows:-

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The attention of Owners, Masters, and Consignees of Vessels is once more called to the inconvenient practice of delaying, until immediately before the Vessel's depar- ture, to apply for the necessary alterations in the Certifi- cate of Registry.

It is also notified to all whom it may concern, that, except in cases of extreme urgency, it will be impossible to entertain such application, or to grant Certificates on Affidavit, of landing articles contraband of war, or to transact such and similar business at this Office, during the three days immediately preceding the outgoing of the Overland Mail for Europe.
