GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

1 subjoined Table of Fees authorized to be taken in the Vice-Admiralty Court of Hongkong, is hereby hed for general information.

OF THE

VICE-ADMIRALTY COURT AT HONGKONG;

Established by the Queen's Order in Council.

WHEREAS by an Act passed in the Second Year of the Reign of His late Majesty King William IV., intituled An Act late the Practice and the Fees in the Vice-Admiralty Courts abroad, and to obviate doubts as to their Jurisdiction, Her ty is empowered to make such Rules and Regulations, and to establish such Fees, and to alter them from time to time, be found expedient for the said Vice-Admiralty Courts; and whereas by an Order in Council, bearing date the 27th of 1632, certain Rules and Regulations touching the Practice to be observed in Suits and Proceedings in Courts of Vice- ty, and also certain. Tables of Fees for the several Courts of Vice-Admiralty then existing, were established; and ess by an Order in Council, bearing date the 25th day of June 1851, the 25th Section of the said Rules and Regulations. relates to Prosecutions for a Breach of the Laws for the Abolition of the Slave Trade, was expunged, and in lieu thereof Rules and Regulations relative thereto were established; and whereas by a further Order in Council dated the 11th day bruary 1852, the said Rules and Regulations, and also the Tables of Fees thereto annexed marked Nos. 1 and 2, were d to be taken and received by the respective Officers of the Vice-Admiralty Court at llongkong: We send you herewith containing a Copy of the aforesaid Order in Council of the 27th of June 1832, with the Rules, Regulations, and Tables thereby established, and also a Copy of the Order in Council of the 25th day of June 1851, with a Copy of the 25th · e of the Rules and Regulations adopted in lieu of that Section expunged from the Rules and Regulations so established der in Council of the 27th June 1832, and also Copies of the said Order in Council of the 11th of February 1852, and of Tables of Fees, marked Nos. 1 and 2, therein directed to be taken and received by the Officers of the Vice-Admiralty at Hongkong, and We hereby desire and direct you, so far as the same affect or concern your Court, to act in accord- with and to be guided by the Rules. Regulations, and Tables of Fees so adopted by the said Orders in Council dated the f June 1851 and 11th of February 1852 in all matters to which they relate.

THE QUEEN'S MOST EXCELLENT MAJESTY IN COUNCIL.

REAS there was this day read at the Board a Memorial of the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the alty, dated the 9th of this instant February, in the words following, viz. :—

Whereas by His late Majesty's Order in Council of the 27th of June 1832, certain Rules and Regulations touching the Practice to be observed in Suits and Proceedings in Courts of Vice-Admiralty, and also certain Tables of Fees for the veral Courts of Vice-Admiralty then existing, were established: And whereas the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty for the time being did, on the 4th day of February 1846, by due authority constitute a Vice-Admiralty Court at Hongkong: And whereas by an Order of Her Majesty in Council. bearing date the 25th day of June 1851, the ith Section of the said Rules and Regulations which relate to Prosecutions for a Breach of the Laws for the Abolition of e Slave Trade were expunged, and in lieu thereof other Rules and Regulations relative thereto were established for the veral Vice-Admiralty Courts in Her Majesty's Possessions abroad: And whereas it is desirable to establish Rules, Eegulations, and Tables of Fees for the said Vice-Admiralty Court at Hongkong: We do therefore most humbly subniit Your Majesty, that Your Majesty will be most graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to establish for the said Ve Admiralty Court at Hongkong the aforesaid Rules and Regulations for the several Vice-Admiralty Courts as altered the said Order in Council dated the 25th June 1851, and that the Tables of Fees, marked Nos. 1 and 2 hereto annexed, ich have been prepared by persons of competent authority, and approved by Your Majesty's Advocate General and the dvocate of the Admiralty, and sanctioned by the Judge of the High Court of Admiralty of England, be established by Your Majesty's Order in Council as the Rules and Regulations for the said Vice-Admiralty Court at Hongkong, and the ly Fees to be taken or received by the Officers and Practitioners of the said Vice-Admiralty Court; and also, that the Ties directed to be taken by the Order in Council dated the 27th of June 1832 in 'undefended Prosecutions for Breach of the Acts for the Abolition of the Slave Trade' be expunged, and that the Table of Fees hereunto annexed, marked No. 2, and which is similar to that established for the Vice-Admiralty Court at Saint Helena by Her Majesty's Order in Funcil dated the 25th of June 1851, be established by Your Majesty's Order in Council as the only Fees to be taken and ceived by the Judges, Registrars, Marshals, Advocates, and Prociors of the several Vice-Admiralty Courts in Your Majesty's Dominions abroad."
