T Contraet for publishing this Gazette, entered into on the 24th September, 1853, was terminated on the 30th ultimo; and notice is hereby you tata New Stries of this Gazette will be published hereafter, to commence from the 7th instant, under a New Contract, and that
"THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE" before, be the only Official Organ for PROCLAMATIONS, NOTIFICATIONS, and PUBLIC PAPERS, of this Government.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
Whereas a barbarous murder was committed at the hamlet of Hakoo-ngam in this Colony, on or about the ay of May instant; and whereas by the Verdict of a Coroner's Jury two Persons have been committed to
eir trial for the said crime:
Notice is hereby given, that HER MAJESTY'S PARDON, added to
A REWARD OF TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS,
required, a FREE PASSAGE TO AUSTRALIA, will be given to any Person, the actual perpetrator of -order excepted, who shall give such information as shall lead to the final conviction of the guilty Parties. By Order,
