POST-OFFICE NOTIFICATION, THE Next GENERAL MAILS per Steamer T

"PEKIN " will be closed on THURSDAY, the 29th December, at 6 P.M.

The usual SUPPLEMENTARY MAILS will be made up on the following morning. LETTERS received from 9 to 11 o'clock A.M., for a late fee of 6d., NEWSPAPERS ld.; and from 11 A.M. to half-past twelve r.M., for a late fee of 1s. on each Letter, and 2d on each, Newspaper.

All Letters and Newspapers posted between the hours of 11 A.M. and half-past 12 o'clock P.M. must be prepaid.

T is hereby notitied for general information, that on and after the 1st January, 1860, the postage on NEWSPAPERS, sent between HONGKONG, and the UNITED KINGDOM, by way of Southampton and Egypt, will be Twopence instead of one permy ench as heretofore. This arrangement will apply also to Newspapers sent between HongKosa, and places through the Uxtrød Kingdom via Southampton, and between Hosgrong, ie, Matra, GIRALTAR, &c.

No additional rate will be levied on NewSPAPERS for places through the UNITED KINGDOM when forwarded to ExGLAND, by way of Marseilles, or for NEWSPAPERS contained in the Mails for FRANCE and SPAIN.

The Term NEWSPAPERS includes Prices Current, and all Publications admitted to the privileges of a NEWSPAPER,
