GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is found necessary to repeat Government Notification No. 104 of 1859, and to call the special attention of Owners and Masters of Ships thereto :—

"Notice is hereby given that His Excellency the Governor has been pleased, under the authority "of the 16th Section of the Supplementary Customs Consolidation Act 1855, to appoint the Harbor "Master of this Colony for the time being to be Principal Officer of Customs to carry into effect the "provisions of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1854.

"All Transfers, Endorsements, and other Transactions connected with the Registry of Ships, will in “future be effected at the Harbor Master's Office, in place of the Colonial Secretary's Office as hitherto." By Order,

With reference to Government Notifications, No. 98 of 14th October, 1859, and No. 13 of 25th January, 1860, it is hereby intimated that, at the request of His Excellency the Governor,

J. J. MACKENZIE, Esquire,

have consented to act as a Committee to decide upon the Schemes submitted for the Supply of Water to the City of Victoria.

Notice is hereby given that the Crown Lands known as Pedder's Hill, Morrison's Hill, and Hos- pital Hill (North End) with the Bungalows thereon erected, will be sold by Public Auction at Pedder's Hill, on Monday, the 16th day of April next, at 4 O'clock P.M. Immediately after the above will be sold two lots on Victoria Peak in the vicinity of the Sanatarium, and one lot near Mount Davis.

The following Schedule of the Areas and Rentals of the Land for sale is published for general information, and I'lans, together with the special conditions regarding the same, may be seen upon application at the Surveyor General's Office between the hours of 11 A.M. and 3 P.M.
