INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION, LONDON, 1862.

1. The Hongkong Local Committee, appointed by Government for promoting the representation of the Colony at the Great International Exhibition to be holden in London on the 1st May next, invite for this purpose the co-operation of the Community, and for the guidance of intending Contribu- tors, call public attention to the following points:

2. It is laid down by Her Majesty's Commissioners that no article will be admitted from abroad except through the duly appointed Central Authority of the place from which it is sent.

The Hong- kong Committee being such duly appointed authority request early application from Residents in the Co- lony, and have offered to take charge of contributions from the Ports in China.

3. To enable the Committee to meet unavoidable expenses in forwarding articles for exhibition to London, assistance from the public is earnestly requested. A Subscription paper will be circulated; and it is hoped that the pecuniary aid granted will be on a scale that will encourage exhibitors to come forward freely in furtherance of the design.

4. Admiral Sir James Hope has expressed his readiness to let such things, as may be ready in time to go by long sea route, be carried free in any of H. M.'s Ships proceeding to England at a suitable date.

5. The rest the Committee propose to send by overland passage.

6. It is specially to be noticed that the period for depositing articles at the Exhibition Building is between 12th February and 31st March; so that even by overland nothing can be sent later than the last mail in January.

7. As a rough suggestion of what may be contributed from this Country, the Committee put for- ward the following List, which is naturally incomplete, and may be improved by any intending contri- butor, provided the prohibitions of H.
