It is hereby notified for the information of all whom it may concern, that Her Most Gracion- Majesty The Queen, being desirous of observing the strictest neutrality in the Contest which appears to be imminent between the United States, and the so-styled Confederate States of North America, has been pleased to interdict the Armed Ships, and also the Privateers of both parties from carrying prizes made by them into the Ports, Harbors, Roadsteads, or Waters of this Colony, or of any of Her Majesty's Possessions abroad.

GENERAL POST OFFICE NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified for general information that henceforward the privilege of registration has been extended to Lætters posted in Hongkong addressed to the United States of America.

The whole of the postage chargeable upon such Letters (British and United States') in addition to a fee of 6d. for veg se tration to the United Kingdom and a further British registration fee of Cd. from the United Kingdom to the United States must be paid in advance; "the charge for postage and registration of a letter to be forwarded viĉ Southampton

Tenders will be received at the Surveyor General's Office up to 12 o'clock, Noon, on the 5th August for the Erection of a Workshed and Out-Houses in Victoria Gaol.

Plans and Specification may be seen at this Office from 10 A.M. to 3 P.M.
