By His Excellency WILLIAM THOMAS MERCER, Esquire, Acting Governor aud Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice- Admiral of the saine, with the Advice of the Legislative Council of Hongkong.
An Ordinance to authorize the appropriation of a Supplementary Sum not exceeding One hundred and Forty-nine thousand Dollars to defray the charges of the Year 1862.

Whereas it has become necessary to make further Provision for the Public Service of the Colony for the Year 1862, in addition to the charge upon the Revenue for the Service of the said Year already provided for in the Estimates submitted to the Legis-' lative Council: Be it enacted and ordained by Ilis Excellency the Acting Governor of . Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-
Preamble.
Estimates, 1862.
I. A Sum not exceeding One hundred and Forty-nine thousand Dollars shall be, Supplementary and the same is hereby, charged upon the Revenue of this Colony for the Service of the Year 1862, and the said Sum so charged shall be expended as hereinafter specified, that is to say:
