PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency WILLIAM THOMAS MERCER, Esquire, Acting Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.

Whereas the Commands of Her Most Gracious Majesty The QUEEN, conveyed through His Grace The DUKE OF NEWCASTLE, K.G., Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies, have been received, approving of and confirming the following Ordinances; namely:----

No. 3 of 1863, entitled-“An Ordinance for vesting all Estates and Property occupied by or for the Naval Service of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in this Colony in the Lord High Admiral, or the Commissioners for executing the Office of Lord High Admiral, of the said United Kingdom for the time being;"

No. 4 of 1863, entitled "An Ordinance to repeal Ordinance No. 1 of 1853 and to provide Gaols

and Debtors' Wards, and for the due control of Prisoners therein: "

Now, therefore, it is hereby declared, that the said Ordinances have been so approved and confirmed, as aforesaid.

Given at Victoria, Hongkong, this 23rd Day of September, 1863.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified that until further notice, in addition to the Notes of the Oriental Bank Corporation, Chartered Mercantile Bank of India, London and China, and the Chartered Bank of India, Australia and China, those of the Agra and United Service Bank will be received at the Colonial Treasury, and by the Collectors of Colonial Revenue, in payment of Government dues.

The following Table of Fares to be charged for Public Vehicles and Chairs from 1st October next, having been approved by His Excellency the Acting Governor in Council, is published for general information.

A List of Stands established by the Registrar General is also annexed for general information.
