THURSDAY, 26TH FEBRUARY, 1863.
PRESENT:
His Excellency the ACTING GOVERNOR and all the Members, except the CHIEF JUSTICE who was absent on account of indisposition, and the SURVEYOR GENERAL on duty at Stone Cutters' Island.
The Council met to day by special Summons.
The Minutes of the Council held on the 6th Instant, were read and approved.
The Acting Governor communicated to the Council the following Despatches received from His Grace
the Secretary of State:---
No. 177 of 17th December, 1862, stating that the Government of Hongkong is at liberty to fix the amount of the Registration Fee to be charged on letters sent from the Colony to Australia.
No. 175 of 15th December, 1862, respecting amendment of Clause 8 of the Harbour Ordinance,
No. 1 of 1862, at a fitting opportunity.
No. 153 of 8th November, 1862, recommending adoption of measures for the immediate
construction of a Convict Prison on Stone Cutters' Island.
The Jury List for the year commencing on the 1st March, 1863, was revised and agreed to,-67 of the
names therein being designated as Special Jurors.
The Council adjourned sine die.
Read and approved this 13th Day of May, 1863.
