The subjoined Notification to Chinese Junk Masters, circulated among the Chinese Community and published in the Chinese Gazette of this date, is republished here for general information.

It is hereby notified to Masters of Chinese Junks, &c., that this Government is prepared, upon receiving satisfactory proof of the service, to reward liberally any such Master who shall save the lives of and safely convey to Hongkong the Crews and Passengers of Shipwrecked British Ships.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Tenders will be received at this Office up to noon of Monday, the 23rd Proximo, for the Privilege of preparing and selling Prepared Opium within the Colony of Hongkong for One year from the 1st April next, under the conditions set forth in Ordinance No. 2 of 1858.

Under the provisions of Ordinance No. 11 of 1844, Notice is hereby given that a Special Sessions of the Justices of the Peace will be held at the Police Magistrates' Court at eleven o'clock in the forenoon of Thursday next the 19th instant, and thereafter on the First Thursday of every month; for the purpose of considering Applications for the transfer of Spirit Licenses.

Such Applications to be lodged at the Police Magistrates' Court, at least Ten days before each of the Sessions now notified.
