No. 117.

THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, 6TH AUGUST, 1864.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Some misapprehension appearing to exist as to the time and mode of paying the Assessed Rates, it is hereby notified that these Rates are payable in advance at the commencement of each Quarter, except the Water Rate which is due at the commencement of each Half-year.

Failing such payment it becomes necessary to apply to the Summary Jurisdiction Court, and not only is extra work thus thrown upon the Colonial Treasury, but trouble and expense upon the Rate payers themselves.

By prompt payment under terms of the Ordinances, the Fees of Court may be saved to the Rate

payers.

By Order,

Colonial Secretary's Office, Hongkong, 14th July, 1864.

W. T. MERCER, Colonial Secretary.

No. 115.
