The following notice received from the Government of the Cape of Good Hope relative to a light at Cape St. Blaize, Mossel Bay, is published for general information.

CAPE ST. BLAIZE LIGHT, MOSSEL BAY.

A Lighthouse has been erected on Cape St. Blaize, Mossel Bay,—a Light from which will be exhibited on and after the 15th of March, 1864.

Latitude of Light, 34° 11′ 10′′ S.

Longitude, 2259′′31′′ E.

High-water, at full and change, 3h. 30m.

Rise and fall, 6 to 7 feet.

Variation of the Compass, 29° 50′.

Bearings are magnetic, distances nautical miles.

The Lighthouse is a square Tower standing on the Bluff of Cape St. Blaize, at an elevation of 240 feet above the Sea. It exhibits a Red Fired Light, of the third order, Dioptric, and is visible between the bearings of N. N. W. round by the East, South and West to S. 80° W., or N. 80° E. from a ship at the distance of 10 to 12 miles in clear weather.
