An Ordinance for repealing Ordinance No. 9 of 1865.

Whereas it is expedient, in consequence of the cessation of Hostilities between the United States and the States lately calling themselves the Confederate States of America, to repeal Ordinance No. 9 of 1865: Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Hongkong, by and with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-

1. The Ordinance No. 9 of 1865 intituled "An Ordinance to give Effect to Her Majesty's Regulations for the Observance of Neutrality during the existing Hostilities between the United States and the States calling themselves the Confederate States of America,” is hereby repealed.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified that a Despatch has been received from the Right Honorable the Secretary of State for the Colonies, conveying his sanction of the Rules and Orders for regulating the Practice of the Court of Summary Jurisdiction of Hongkong,-a transcript of which appeared in the Hongkong Government Gazette of the 10th June last.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION,

With reference to Government Notification No. 149, it is hereby notified that His Excellency the ACTING GOVERNOR has been pleased to confirm the following probationary Appointments, which took effect from the 1st ultimo, viz. :

Mr. C. F. A. SANGSTER, 2nd Clerk in the Registrar General's Office, to be Clerk of the Court of Summary Jurisdiction.

Mr. W. BARNICOTT to be 2nd Clerk in the Registrar General's Office.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

It is hereby notified for general information that in future, on a Steamer being sighted from the Peak, a Compass' Signal will be hoisted at the Masthead and kept flying until the Name or Ownership of the Steamer is made out.

To obviate confusion, it is to be noted that the only distance signal made at the Masthead is on the Steamer approaching proving to be the Mail, when a Black Ball is hoisted at the Masthead with the distance sigual. All other distance signals are made at the Yard arın.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Tenders will be received between the hours of 11 A.M. and 3 P.M. at the Surveyor General's Office, until the 30th November, 1885, for the privilege of farming all Granite quarries in Hongkong and Kowloon during the year, 1866.

Persons desirous of tendering are directed to call at the Surveyor General's Office to obtain a proper form of tender and to register their names and address.
