THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE, 20TH MAY, 1865.
63. Every Offence under this Ordinance made punishable on summary Conviction, by a Police Magistrate shall be prosecuted, tried, and determined in the Manner directed by Ordinance No. 10 of 1844, and every such Magistrate shall have, and is hereby invested with, full Jurisdiction, Power, and Authority, to deal with, enquire of, try, determine, and punish, every Offence under this Ordinance made punishable on summary Conviction by a Police Magistrate.
Commencement of 64. This Ordinance shall commence and take effect on the

CIRCULAR.
DOWNING STREET, 28th February, 1865.
SIR,-I transmit to you a copy of a Letter from the Royal Horticultural Society, with a copy of a Statement showing their intention to offer a Prize for the best Representative Collection of Fruit and Vegetables from any of the Colonies, to be exhibited at the Society's International Fruit Show in 1865.
You will perceive that the Exhibition is fixed for the month of December in the present year.
I should be glad if the Colonists of Hongkong shall be able to avail themselves of the invitation of the Society, by which I understand them to desire the exhibition of such Fruit and Vegetables (being capable of transmission to this Country) as may either be characteristic of the Colony and not equally produceable in many other parts of the world, or which, from local advantages, may be produced with peculiar success in the Colony under your Government.--I have the honor to be, Sir, your most obedient humble servant,

FROM SATURDAY, 9TH DECEMBER, TO SATURDAY, 16TH DECEMBER, 1865, INCLUSIVE.
1. The Gold Medal of the Society will be awarded for the best collection of Fruit and Vegetables produced in the garden of a Sovereign.

2. The Gold Medal of the Society for the best collection of Fruit and Vegetables grown by any Botanic or Horticultural Society in any part of the world.
3. The Gold Medal of the Society for the best and most complete representative collection of Fruit and Vegetables from any of the Colonies.
4. First Banksian Gold Medal for the best and most complete representative collection from the Presidencies of India. 5. Certificates will be awarded for separate exhibitions of Fruits and Vegetables, either fresh or preserved, from all parts
of the world.
6. The first Gold Knightian Medal of the Society to the exhibitor who shall obtain the greatest number of first-clas certificates.
7. The second Gold Knightian Medal to the exhibitor who shall obtain the greatest number of second-class certificates 8. The second Gold Banksian Medal to the exhibitor who shall obtain the greatest number of third-class certificates. 9. The first Gold Banksian Medal to the exhibitor who shall gain the greatest number of marks, counting first, second and third certificates as three, two, and one marks respectively.
