An Ordinance to consolidate and amend the Enactments in force in this Colony relating to Offences against the Person.

Whereas it is expedient to consolidate and amend the Enactments in force in this ay relating to Offences against the Person: Be it therefore enacted by His Excel- acy the Governor of Hongkong with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof as

1. In the interpretation of this Ordinance the term "Court" shall mean the Su- Interpretation of preme Court of this Colony or other the Court before which a Prisoner or Defendant shall be tried. Words importing the Singular Number shall include more than one and the Word including or indicating the Masculine Gender shall include the Feminine, unless any case it be otherwise specially provided or unless there be some thing in the subject or context repugnant to such Interpretation.

II. Whosoever shall be convicted of Murder shall suffer Death as a Felon.

Murder.

III. Upon every conviction for Murder the Court shall pronounce Sentence of Death, Sentence for Murder. d the same may be carried into execution, and all other Proceedings upon such Sen- fence and in respect thereof may be had and taken, in the same manner in all respects Sentence of Death might have been pronounced and carried into execution, and all Proceedings thereupon and in respect thereof might have been had and taken, be- fre the passing of this Ordinance upon a Conviction for any other Felony for which

Prisoner might have been sentenced to suffer Death as a Felon.

IV. The body of every Person executed for Murder shall be buried in such Place Burial of Gody. the Governor shall order, and the Sentence of the Court shall so direct.
