5. The name of every seller, the house number, and district in which he dwells, together with an intelligible description of the article and time at which it was sold, with price paid, shall be entered in the books of the shop, which shall be kept in such form and manner as may from time to time be directed by the Captain Superintendent of Police.
6. No escapes through the roof of a Licensed House shall be allowed.
7. The Proprietor of each Licensed House shall be held responsible for any breach of these Regulations or of the Ordinance.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
It is hereby notified that under the provisions of Ordinance No. 11 of 1844, Tuesday, the 29th Day of October next, is fixed for a Special Sessions of the Justices of the Peace, to be held at the Police Magistrates' Office, at 11 o'clock in the forenoon of that Day, for the purpose of considering Applications for Licenses for the Sale of Spirituous and Fermented Liquors during the Year commencing on 1st December next.
Applications for such Licenses must be lodged at the Police Magistrates' Office at least Ten Days before the Sessions, in the Form prescribed in the said Ordinance, and no Application will, after that period, be received for submission to the Sessions.
Printed Forms of Applications may be obtained by intending Applicants at the Police Magis- trates' Office, between the hours of 10 A.M. and 4 P.M.

NOTICE.

The Harbor Master has received instructions from His Excellency the GOVERNOR to receive Tenders up to the 6th October, for the construction of 12 Gigs for the use of the Water Police.
The boats must be built of Hardwood Gunwales, Garboards, Keels, and Thwarts. They must be Copper fastened and provided with Sails, Awnings, Oars, Iron Rowlocks, and Yokes, and have two coats of paint inside and out. The boats will require to be completed to the satisfaction of the Harbor Master, to whom application is to made for dimensions, &c.
The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest or any Tender.

Owners of Tenements assessed to the Police, Lighting and Water Rates are informed that the Rates are payable in advance, during and within the Month of October, for the last Quarter of the present Year.
After the 31st October all Rates not paid are recoverable through the Court of Summary Juris- diction with Costs and Interest.
Rate Payers are further informed that all Receipts in payment of Local Taxes must,―to be valid,- be signed by the Treasurer and Accountant Mr. C. H. HORDEN ;- -no other Parties being authorized to sign Treasury Receipts.
