The Council meets this day at 3 o'clock, by special Summons.
The Minutes of the Council held on the 20th June, are read and confirmed.
The Honorable The Chief Justice presents the Report of the Select Committee on the Contagious
Diseases Bill, suggesting amendments therein; and the same having been received,-
The Council goes into Committee upon the Clauses of the said Bill.
The proposed amendments are agreed to; and the Bill, having gone through Committee, is passed bearing the Title of "An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, for the better Prevention of Contagious Diseases," being “No. 10
of 1867."
The Police and Lighting Rate Amendment Bill is read a second time, and the Council goes into
Committee upon the said Bill.
Sectio s 1 to 3 inclusive, agreed to.
Section 4 being read, it is moved by the Acting Attorney General, and seconded by Mr. PARRY, at this Section be struck out with a view to the insertion in its place of a new Section, by which arrears of Rates are made recoverable by Summons, instead of by Summary Warrants.
