POST OFFICE NOTIFICATION,
1. It is hereby notified for general information that, the Contract between the Government of Mauritius and the Union Steam-ship Company, for the Conveyance of Mails once a Month between Ceylon and Mauritius, and between Mauritius and Natal, having terminated, the correspondence for Mauritius will be forwarded from this Office in the Mail for Aden, from whence it will be sent to its destination by the French Mail Packets leaving Aden for Reunion and Mauritius on the 23rd of each Month.
2. No alteration has been made in the rates of Postage on correspondence addressed to Mauritius. 3. As the communication with Natal and the Cape of Good Hope is thus cut off, the correspondence for those Colonies, unless marked to be forwarded by Private Ship, will, in future, be sent in the Mails for London at the following rates of Postage, which must be paid in advance, viz. :-
Upon Letters sent by way of Southampton, When sent by way of Marseilles,
Newspapers viâ Southampton,
Newspapers viâ Marseilles,
Book Packets viâ Southampton,
..46 cents each half-ounce.

PROCLAMATION.
[L.S.] RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL.
By His Excellency SIR RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL, Knight, and Companion of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.
Whereas the Crimes of Child-stealing and Kidnapping have much increased in this Colony and its Dependencies of late, and a new law has provided for the flogging of Offenders convicted of these Crimes:-
It is hereby notified that if any Person shall give such information, evidence, or assistance, as that any Kidnapper, Decoy, or Child-stealer be thereby convicted and flogged (or being a Woman shall be convicted only) then such Person shall receive a reward of $20 from the Colonial Treasury.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
GEORGE J. HELLAND, Esquire, and others having made application to The GOVERNOR for permission to construct a Landing Wharf, with Godowns attached for storing Cargo in front of Marine Lot No. 63 A, and His Excellency having been pleased to direct that the Public should have means of becoming acquainted with the particulars of such application, Notice is hereby given that a Plan and Specifications of the intended undertaking can be seen at the Office of the Assistant Surveyor General.
