GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
The following Order by The GoVERNOR in Council is published for general information.

ORDER

Made by His Excellency Governor SIR RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL, C.B., in Council,
this 12th Day of September, 1868.
Whereas an Ordinance was on the 22nd of May, 1868, enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to enable the Governor to co-operate with the Chinese Authorities for the Suppression of Piracy; And Whereas it was by the same Ordinance enacted that it should be lawful for the Governor in Council from Time to Time to frame such Orders to be enforced by such Fines and Penalties as the Governor in Council should deem expedient, including Forfeiture of Vessel, for preventing all or any description of Fishing Vessels, and Trading Junks from carrying Arms or Munitions of War including Stink Pots; And Whereas it was by the same Ordinance enacted that such Ordinance should commence and take effect on such Day as should thereafter be fixed by Proclamation under the Hand of the Governor; And Whereas on the 13th Day of June, now last past, SIR RICHARD GRAVES MACDONNELL, Governor of the Colony of Hongkong, in pursuance of the said Ordinance and by virtue of the authority in him vested, did thereby under his Hand Proclaim that the said Ordinance should commence and take effect on the 1st Day of July then next ensuing; And Whereas in pursuance of the said Ordinance and of the Provisions therein contained in that behalf, the Governor in Council did on the 7th Day of July, now last past, frame certain Orders which were on the 11th Day of the same month duly published in the Gazette; And Whereas such Orders were originally issued on the understanding that a similar policy was to be pursued by the Chinese Authorities; And Whereas the said Authorities have signified their intention to discontinue their measures for the Disarmament of Junks in Chinese Waters: Now, therefore, the Governor in Council has deemed it expedient to revoke such Orders, and, in accordance with the Provisions of the Ordinance hereinbefore recited in that behalf and by virtue thereof, it is ordered by the Governor in Council that the Orders so framed and published as aforesaid shall be revoked, and they are hereby revoked. GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
Tenders will be received at this Office, until Noon on the 28th instant, for the execution of various services in connection with the completion of the Pokfulum Reservoir Works.
Specifications for the different services may be seen at the Surveyor General's Office, where also a proper form of Tender may be obtained.
