PROCLAMATION.

[LS.] HENRY WASE WHITFEILD.

By His Excellency HENRY WASE WHITFEILD, Major-General Commanding Her Majesty's Troops in China, and Lieutenant-Governor of the Colony of Hongkong and its Dependencies.

Whereas the Commands of Her Most Gracious Majesty The QUEEN, conveyed through The Right Honorable The Earl of KIMBERLEY, Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies, have been received, approving of and confirming the following Ordinance; namely:-

No. 3 of 1871, entitled--“An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to consolidate and amend the Laws of the Colony relating to the Admission and Enrolment by the Supreme Court of Barristers, Attornies, Solicitors, and Proctors, and to the Examination of Articled Clerks, and to provide for the Registration of Public Notaries":-

Now, therefore, it is hereby declared, that the said Ordinance has been so approved and confirmed, as aforesaid.

By His Excellency's Command,

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The following Notice from the Master Attendant at Galle is published for general information.

NOTICE.

The wreck of the S. S. "Rangoon" lies in 15 fathoms water, off this port-The Light House bearing N. E. ↓ E. [True] distance 1 miles.

All Vessels making the Port to enter it or to anchor in the Roads, should avoid this bearing within a distance of two

miles.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

With reference to Government Notification, No. 163, of the 25th November, it is hereby made known, that the Privilege of farming the Granite Quarries in Hongkong and Kowloong during the year 1872, will be granted under the following conditions; namely:--

1. The Licensee shall not open any new Quarry.

2. He shall have no claim to any Stone stacked or worked by any preceding Licensec or Sub-

Licensee, and left at the Quarries.
