GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The following Report from the Superintendent of the Hongkong Fire Brigade, is published for general information.

FIRE BRIGADE OFFICE, HONGKONG, 1st September, 1871. SIR,-I have the honor to forward for submission to the view of His Excellency the Lieutenant- Governor, the Report of the Hongkong Fire Brigade for the months of July and August.

An inspection of the Government Brigade was held on the 19th July, the Engines, Hose in use and in store, Ladders, and Equipment generally were examined and found clear and in order.

Owing to the incessant rain at the end of July, it was not found convenient to have the Parade and Inspection until the 2nd August, when the Government_Steam and Hand Engines, and three Chinese owned Hand Engines were taken,-No. 1 Steam Engine to the Praya near the Harbor Master's Office, and the whole of the remaining Engines to the Queen's Road near Circular Buildings, where they were satisfactorily worked from the "Mains."

An Inspection of the Government Brigade was held on the 18th August; the Engines, Hose, Ladders, &c., were examined and found clean and in order.

A Parade and Inspection of the Government and Volunteer Brigades was held on the 31st August. The assembly took place at the "Cross Road" at past 4 P.M., and thence the Engines were taken to the Praya, near Harbor Master's Office, and all worked from the Sca; they were found in good order. No. 1 Steam Engine had four branches of delivery Hose, and No. 2 Steam Engine, two branches.

The subsidiary Fire Stations were visited during the month of July, the Hose and Implements found in order, and they were worked from the "Mains."

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Mr. GEORGE L. TOMLIN, having reported his return to the Colony, has resumed his duties as First Clerk in the Surveyor General's Office from this date.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The following Bill, which will be laid on the Table of the Legislative Council for the first Reading after the expiration of one month from this date, is published for general information.

All Persons possessing Property which they consider may be affected by the Provisions of the proposed Ordinance, are invited to send in to the Colonial Secretary full Particulars in writing of such Property and of the Injury or Prejudice, if any, which they believe may accrue thereto from t erection of the Public Pier authorized by the Bill.

A Plan of the intended Pier, may be inspected at the Office of the Surveyor General.
