An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to empower the Governor from Time to Time to enrol Constables in the Police Force for Periods of less than Five Years, and upon special Terms and Conditions.

HEREAS by Ordinance No.9 of 1862, Power is given to the Governor to enrol Constables in the Police Force established thereunder for the Period of Five Years upon the Terms and Conditions in the said Ordinance specified and contained. AND WHEREAS it is expedient to empower the Governor from Time to Time to raise an Auxiliary Police Force by enrolling Constables for Periods of less than Five Years and on such Terms and Conditions as hereinafter mentioned: Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:

Preamble.
I. This Ordinance may be cited as "The Auxiliary Police Force Short Title. Ordinance."

II. It shall be lawful for the Governor from Time to Time to Power to enrol enrol in the Police Force of the Colony any number of Constables Constables for not exceeding Two hundred for such Periods of less than Five Periods. Years and upon such special Terms and Conditions as he shall from Time to Time deem expedient.

III. Every Constable enrolled in the Police Force under this Eurolment Ordinance shall bind himself by a Memorandum in Writing to under this serve for such Period and upon such Terms as shall be agreed upon, and he shall not be at Liberty to resign or withdraw himself from the Force before the Expiration of the Period of his Engage- ment, except with the Permission of the Governor.
IV. Sections IX, XI, and XXIII of Ordinance No. 9 of 1362, Such Consta- and the Provisions of Ordinance No. 8 of 1869 as to the Grant of bles not

VI. VII. In Case any Constable enrolled in the Auxiliary Police Service in Force established under this Ordinance, shall be subsequently Auxiliary enrolled in the Police Force established under Ordinance No. 9 of in Case of 1802, the whole of his Time of Service in the Auxiliary Police Enrolment Force, shall be reckoned in the Computation of his Service under under Ordi- Ordinance No. 9 of 1862, for the Purposes of the Bonus and nance I of Pensions to which he may become entitled thereunder.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.
REWARD OF 250 DOLLARS.
Whereas on Monday, the 28th Instant, at about 7 P.M., a Robbery with violence was committed upon Mr. GEORGE L. TOMLIN, First Clerk in the Surveyor General's Department, near the junction of Caine koad and Arbuthnot Road:-It is hereby notified, that a Reward of $250 will be paid to any Person or Persons who shall give such Information to the Police as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the guilty Parties.
The above Reward will be apportioned at the discretion of His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor, in the event of such Information being supplied by more than one Person.
A Free Pardon will be granted to any Person implicated in the Crime who may give such Information, provided he be not the actual perpetrator thereof.
