ARTICLE XXXVIII.

The present Convention shall be ratified, and the ratifications shall be exchanged as soon as possible.

In witness whereof, the respective Plenipoten- tiaries have signed the present Convention, and have affixed thereto the seal of their arms.

Done in duplicate in Paris, the twenty-fourth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six.

ARTICLE XXXVIII.

La présente Convention sera ratifiée, et les ra- tifications en seront échangées aussitôt que faire se pourra.

En foi de quoi, les Plénipotentiaires respectifs ont signé la présente Convention, et y ont apposé le sceau de leurs armes.

Fait à Paris, en double original, le vingt- quatrième jour du mois de Septembre, de l'an de grâce mil huit cent cinquante-six.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.

No. 16. YANGTSZE.

CHINKIANG DISTRICT.

1.-North Tree Light.

The present ship's mast-head light will shortly be removed and replaced by a Dioptric Sixth Order Light, which, in clear weather should be visible from a distance of 7 miles.

2.-Beaver or Pottinger Island Light.

The former ship's mast-head light has been replaced by a Dioptric Sixth Order Light, which, in clear weather, should be visible from a distance of 7 miles.

3. Wade Island Light.

On or about the 10th January, 1873, the present light will be removed from the northern extremity of Wade Island, and re-erected about the middle of its western shore.

These three lights are fixed white ones.

It is hereby notified that henceforward the Postage on Letters addressed to Batavia, when forwarded by French Packet, will be 18 cents for each half ounce, pre-payment compulsory.
