An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to impose Stamp Duties in lieu of the Fees payable to the Emigration Officer of Hongkong under "The Chinese Passengers' Ordinance, 1871."

Title.
HEREAS it is expedient to impose Stamp Duties in lieu of Preamble.
the Fees payable to the Emigration Officer of Hongkong
under "The Chinese Passengers' Ordinance, 1871:" Be it enacted
by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative
Council thereof, as follows:-
I. From and after the Commencement of this Ordinance, no Stamp Duties Fees shall be payable to the Emigration Officer of Hongkong in lieu of Fees. under "The Chinese Passengers' Ordinance, 1871," but in lieu
thereof the following Stamp Duties are hereby imposed, that is to
say :-
Upon every Application for a Certificate under Article
543
II of the Regulations contained in Schedule B of the said Ordinance, a Stamp Duty of
$25
Upon every Certificate granted under Article I of the
said Regulations, a Stamp Duty of.....
.$25
II. No Fee shall henceforth be payable in this Colony by the No Fee for Master of a Ship for a Copy of the said Ordinance under Arti- Copy of cle I of the said Regulations.
Ordinance.
III. "The Stamp (Amendment) Ordinance, 1868" shall be read Ordinance as if the Stamp Duties hereby imposed were inserted in the Schedule No. 5 of 1868. of the said Ordinance.
IV. Nothing in this Ordinance contained shall be deemed to Saving Clause. affect the Payment of Fees under "The Chinese Passengers' Ordinance, 1871," to any Emigration Officer at any Port or Place
out of the Colony.

An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, for the temporary Detention of certain Foreign Offenders.

WHERE and who have been reccused or convicted of
HEREAS Subjects of Foreign Governments resorting to
Crimes committed there, are frequently brought within this Colony in the course of their Transmission to their respective Countries for Trial or Punishment on such Charges or Convictions, and it is expedient to provide for the temporary Detention and Custody, within the Colony, of such Offenders pending the necessary Arrangements for their Transmission as aforesaid: Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:-
