It is hereby made known that His Excellency The Governor in Council, has granted to IIO-LEONG, of the SIU LUNG Shop, No. 57 Bonhain Strand, and SHI-YAU, of the FUK LUNG Shop, No. 77 Jervois Street, the exclusive Privilege of preparing and selling Prepared Opium within the Colony of Hongkong and the Waters thereof, for the period of Six Months from the 1st July, 1872.

GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

The following Letter received from His Excellency Vice-Admiral SHADWELL, C.B., F.R.S., Naval Commander-in-Chief, reporting the Bearings of the position of the Wreck of the British Steamer Peiho, (No. 2) at the entrance of the Gulf of Pechili, is published for general information.

SIR,I have the honour to report for your Excellency's information the bearings of the position of the wreck of the British steamer Peiho (No. 2) at the entrance of the Gulf of Pechili, taken by Mr. RUSSELL, Master of the steamer Appin.

Quoin Island Peak, N. 56° E. Houki (centre), N. 89 E. 6'7.

N. E. extrem. of Chang-shan, S. 68° E.

These are compass bearings corrected for deviation.

The wreck lies in 10 fathoms. One mast is broken and probably covered at high water, the other is about 5 feet above that level.

I beg to suggest to your Excellency that this information should be made public for the guidance

of Mariners.
