Bye-laws made under Section 16 of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, (Ordinence No. 1 of 1903).
All Bye-laws originally contained in or since added to Schedule B of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903. under the heading "Cemeteries are hereby repealed and the following substituted therefor :--
CEMETERIES,
A.
Cemeteries other than Chinese Cemeteries,
1. Every cemetery shall be at all times open to inspection by any member of the Board, or by any officer of the Sanitary Department who inay be directed to make such inspection.
2. Each grave shall bear a number.
3. A register shall be kept by the person or persons in charge of each cemetery, at or near such cemetery, and the date of burial, name, sex and age of each person shall be entered therein against the number of the grave in which the corpse is interred; such register shall be open to inspection by any member of the public, at any reasonable hour.
4. Each grave shall be dug to a depth of at least six feet, with the exception of the graves of children under ten years of age which need not exceed four feet in depth.
5. Except as regards the corpses of children under ten years of age only one corpse shall be placed in one grave. In the case of the corpses of children under ten years of age, two corpses may be placed in one grave, provided that such grave is dug to a depth of at least six feet.
6. The interspace between any two graves at any point shall be at least eighteen inches.
7. Each grave shall be properly covered with turf or chunam or such other material as may be approved by the Board, within twelve months of the grave being filled in.
8. No grave may be reopened after a corpse has been interrol therein without the written permission of one of the Medical Officers of Health, or other oflicer duly appointed by the Board for that purpose.
9. The person in charge of each cemetery shall give not less than two hours' notice to the Inspector of Cemeteries, of intention to inter a corpse, and the hour at which it is proposed that such interment shall take place.
10. The fees to be charged in the Colonial Cemetery shall be as follows :-
