An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to provide means for enforcing good order, and discipline in the Police Force employed in the Royal Naval Yard.

[March 18th, 1875.]

WHEREAS it is expedioplite in dve police Force

good order and discipline in the Police Force employed in the Royal Naval Yard at Hongkong: Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:

I. The Commodore, or other Superintendent of Her Majesty's Naval Yard may from time to time make and issue rules and may be made. regulations for the government of the Police Force employed

in the said Yard.

In case of breach of discipline or neglect of duty by Commodore or any member of the said Police Force, the Commodore, or other other Superin- Superintendent of the Naval Yard may, on proof thereof to his satisfaction, order the offender to forfeit and pay a sum not ex- breach of dis- ceeding twenty-five dollars;

Or, if he think fit, may bring the offender before a Magis- trate, and the Magistrate on proof of the offence may award imprisonment for any term not exceeding four- teen days with or without hard labor, together with forfeiture of all pay during such imprisonment.

III. Whenever any member of the said Police Force shall other offences. be guilty of any neglect or violation of duty in his office;

Or shall be guilty of any disobedience to the rules, or regulations made and issued by the Commodore, or other Superintendent of the Naval Yard;

Or of any other misconduct as a member of the said Police

Or having duly engaged himself to serve in the force shall

desert therefrom;

Or, being permitted to resign, shall not, upon ceasing to belong to the force, deliver up all arms, accoutrements and appointments whatsoever entrusted to him for the performance of his duty;

He shall, upon conviction thereof in a summary way before a Magistrate, be liable to forfeit and pay a sum not exceeding two hundred dollars, or to be imprisoned with or without hard Jabor for any term not exceeding six months, together with for- feiture of all pay during such imprisonment.

IV. The Commodore or other Superintendent of the Naval regulations to Yard shall cause all such rules and regulations to be forthwith be laid before sent to the Governor to be laid before the Legislative Council

V. This Ordinance may be cited for all purposes as "The Naval Yard Police Ordinance, 1875.”
