INSTRUCTIONS TO MEASURING SURVEYORS.

International Tonnage.

The Board of Trade forward herewith, for the information and guidance of Officers concerned in the duties of measurement and registry of ships, a copy of a recently issued Order in Council, which extends to vessels of Sweden the advantages field out by the 60th Section of "The Merchant Shipping Act, 1862."

HEREAS by "The Merchant Shipping Act Amendment Act, 1862,” it is enacted, that whenever

to appear to the rules concerning of

merchant ships for the time being in force under the principal Act have been adopted by the Govern- ment of any foreign country and are in force in that country, it shall be lawful for Her Majesty, by Order in Council, to direct that the ships of such foreign country shall be deemed to be of the tommage
