́OTICE.—JOHN SPINES HOOK, of Victoria, in the Island of Hongkong, Shipping and Commission Agent, Lighterman and Godown- keeper, having been adjudged Bankrupt under a Petition for adjudication of Bankruptcy, filed in the Supreme Court of Hongkong, on the Tenth day of May, in the year of our Lord One thou- sand Eight hundred and Seventy-six, a public sitting for the said Bankrupt to pass his last examination, and make application for his order of discharge, will be held before the Honorable Sir John Smale, Knight, Chief Justice of the said Court, at the Supreme Court House, Victoria, Hongkong, on the Eighth day of June, next, at Eleven of the clock in the forenoon of that day precisely.
At this meeting, proofs of the debts of the Cre- ditors will be received.
Frederick Sowley Huffam, Esquire, is the Official Assignce in the matter.
Dated the 27th day of May, A.D. 1876.
Ordinance No. 14 of 1862, the following Petition to His Excellency the Governor in Council for Letters Patent for the Exclusive Right to use within this Colony and its Depen- dencies, the Invention hereinafter mentioned, has, together with the Specifications and Declarations required by the said Ordinance, been filed in the Office of the Colonial Secretary, that is to say:- "The Petition of WILLIAM MACGREGOR
"SMITH, as Assignee of JAMES DUN- "CAN, for Improvements in the treat- "ment and purification of Sugar and "Saccharine Matters, and in the Appa- "ratus employed therein."
NOTICE is hereby given, that His Excellency the Governor has appointed Monday, the 5th day of June, 1876, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, for a Sitting of the Executive Council at the Offices of the Government, for the purpose of entertain- ing the said Petition, and that at such Sitting of the Council, Application will be made for such Letters Patent as aforesaid.
