Notifications Nos. 1074 and 1119 of Department of Communications.

Gulf of Tokyo.

Notice is hereby given that Kogane buoy, S. side of Kogane at Tomioka anchorage, S. of Yokohama harbour, which had been drifted (see notification No. 714 of Dept. of Communications, May, 1920) has been remoored in its due position. (July 12th, 1920.)

Shimonoseki Strait.

Notice is hereby given that the following temporary lightouse built on the Kaneno- tsuru misaki, and lighted buoy moored in the N. W. point of Manaita iwa, have been ex- hibited since the 8th July, 1920, in place of Manaita beacon light, western entrance to Shimonoseki strait, which shall be withdrawn in near future :—

Kanenotsuru misaki temporary lighthouse.

Position-Lat. 33° 54' 13" N.; Long. 130° 54' 37" E. (according to the Japanese Admiralty chart No. 135).

Description:-Wooden pole, painted white, supporting a lantern.

Height of light :-30 shaku above the base and 33 shaku above the water.

Character of light :--Pintsches Gas Occulting white, light 3 secs., eclipse 3 secs.

Illuminated are:- -An arc 214°, from S. 88° W. through W., N., and E. to S. 58° E. (magnetic bearings taken from the seaward).

Power:-200 candles.

Visible distance:-11 nautical miles in clear night.

N.B.-If the light being kept uo attendance, go out by accident there may be some delay in relighting it.

Manaita lighted buoy.

Description:-Iron frustum of cone, black, surmounted by a lattice-work supporting

a lantern.

Height of light:-10 shaku above high water.

Character of light-Pintsches gas fixed green. Illuminated are:--The whole horizon.

Visible distance :---4 nautical miles in clear night.

Depth:-9 fathoms at low water spring tides.

Magnetic bearings taken from the buoy :--

Shishigakuchi.. Kanenotsuru misaki Sakaibana

..N. 27° 50′ W.

S. 65° 20′ E. S. 76° 0′ W.
