Shanghai District-Yangtze River.

SOUTH-EASTERN ENTRANCE TO CONFUCIUS CHANNEL.

Buoys Moved.

REFERRING to Special Notice to Mariners No. 557, notice is hereby given that the following Buoys marking the south-eastern entrance to the Confucius Channel, Yangtze River, have been moved :----

The South-east Spit Buoy has been moved and is now moored in 29 feet of water on the southern side of the south-eastern entrance to the Confucius Channel, its characteristics remaining unchanged. From the Buoy, Pientan Beacon bears N. 40° E., distant 3.21 miles.

The Dove's Nest Lower Buoy has been moved and is now moored in 30 feet of water on the south-eastern extremity of the Acteon Shoals, its charac- teristics remaining unchanged. From the Buoy, Pientan Beacon bears S. 87° E., distant 3.85 miles.

All bearings given are magnetic, and depths are those of low water of extraordinary spring tides.

Chefoo District--Pechili Strait.

HOWKI ISLAND LIGHT TO BE TEMPORARILY DISCONTINUED.

Provisional Light to be Established.

NOTICE is hereby given that on or about the 5th May, 1920, the existing Howki Island Light will be temporarily discontinued for repairs and a provisional Light exhibited in its place.

This provisional Light, which will be Dioptric, of the Sixth Order, will show a white acetylene light occulting every 10 seconds, thus:-

Light,. Eclipse,

0.3 second, 9.7 seconds,

and will be visible all round in clear weather for a distance of 12 miles. It will be exhibited from the same position in the Lighthouse as that occupied by the existing Light.

Surveying-Beacon Moved.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Surveying-beacon situated on Mason Point, Tsung- ming Island, Yangtze River, has been moved 0:31 mile N. 81° E., magnetic, from its former position.
