SIR, I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch, No. 126, of the 28th of December, enclosing a copy of the proceedings of the Legislative Council of Hongkong where you announced the death of Her Royal Highness The Princess ALICE.
I have laid before the QUEEN the address of the Legislative Council, and Her Majesty was pleased to receive it very Graciously, and I am commanded to express to you Her Majesty's thanks to the Council and people of Hongkong for this expression of sympathy in Her bereave-
ment.
